Original post: 11-year-old airlifted after bike crashes into car The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash involving an 11-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle on North Delphine Avenue this evening.   The boy was transported to Augusta Health by the Waynesboro First Aid Crew and then airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., several people called the Waynesboro Emergency Operations Center about the crash that occurred at North Delphine Avenue and Sixth Street near the City’s recycling center.

The preliminary investigation has determined that the victim was on a bicycle traveling west on Sixth Street when he disregarded the stop sign at the intersection with North Delphine Avenue and was struck by a northbound 2015 Kia sport utility vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Waynesboro woman.  The driver of the vehicle was also taken to Augusta Health for treatment.

A Police Department crash investigator is on scene with other members of the Police Department continuing the investigation.  North Delphine Avenue, between Sixth Street and Eighth Street, is currently shut down while officers investigate.
