JMU to play in Philly Hoop Group Classic

James Madison men’s basketball revealed the first piece to its 2011-12 schedule as the Dukes will compete in the Philly Hoop Group Classic in November.

JMU will open play in the classic with a game Saturday, Nov. 19 at La Salle. The Dukes then host Robert Morris on Tuesday, Nov. 22. After Thanksgiving, the classic will feature five games in two days at The Palestra, the University of Pennsylvania’s historic arena in Philadelphia. JMU games at the Palestra include Friday, Nov. 25 vs. Rider and Saturday, Nov. 26 against Penn.

All tournament matchups are subject to change and game times will be announced at a later date.

The Dukes are coming off of a 21-12 season with a sixth-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association at 10-8. JMU expects to return four starters from its 2010-11 squad. More information on the 2011-12 schedule for the Dukes will be available later in the summer.

This will be the fifth year of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. The event is hosted by The Hoop Group, which organizes instructional camps, clinics, high school events and college events.
