The James Madison University football program announced that redshirt-sophomore quarterback Jace Edwards (Midland, Texas/Lee) has been given his release from the football program to transfer to another school.

“Jace Edwards has asked for and been granted his release,” coach Mickey Matthews said. “We appreciate everything he has done for the football program and athletic department at JMU. We wish him nothing but the best in his future plans.”

After redshirting in 2010, Edwards played in six games, getting the start in five of them. He was 62-for-99 for 733 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. His best collegiate game was at Old Dominion, going 17-for-26 for 239 yards.
