For the first time in school history, the Eastern Mennonite men’s basketball team has cracked the top 25 of a national poll. The Runnin’ Royals have already set the mark for best start in school history, and this week took the No. 24 spot in the D3hoops.com national ranking. The men had been receiving votes since the first poll of the regular season.

EMU started the season with an 8-0 mark, easily breaking the previous best of 3-0 to start a year. After Saturday’s 88-71 win over Hampden-Sydney, the Royals are now 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Three other ODAC teams also hold national ranks, highlighted by 10-0 Randolph-Macon, which jumped into the top spot this week. EMU hosts the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Guilford held its spot at No. 6, while Virginia Wesleyan moved up to No. 12.
