Fishburne’s postgrad basketball team earned a hard-fought 77-66 win over a gritty Quakerdale Prep Academy (Iowa) team on Wednesday.
Kuran Iverson led the way with 24 points as the game was a two-possession game for the majority of the second half.
Forward Walter Foster had a tremendous impact on the game defensively, having to spend time going against a front line that stood 6’6”, 6’8”, and 6’9”. Foster provided a physical presence and helped limit Missouri Valley recruit Josh James to five points.
Guard Zach Lewis contributed 19 points with a variety of drives to the basket and perimeter jump shots. Zak Kirkbride again made another huge play while knocking down a 25 foot 3-pointer with 2 seconds left on the shot clock that ended up being a key in giving us the lead for good.
Quakerdale Prep was led by Deontae Hawkins 13 points.
