A season-high 25 points from Jeff Allen wasn’t enough as Boston College held off Virginia Tech 58-56 in Chestnut Hill on Saturday.
Tech (15-7, 5-4 ACC) had three chances to tie the game or take the lead late, but Malcolm Delaney missed the front end of a one-and-one with 24 seconds to play, then after an Allen offensive rebound, Delaney had a shot in the lane blocked by Kevin Trapani. The Hokies were able to get the loose ball and find Erick Green in the corner for a wide-open three, but the shot clanked off the iron with four seconds left.
Trapani scored 14 points to lead BC (15-8, 5-4 ACC).
