Walk-off times two: Chris Davis homer pushes Orioles past A’s, 4-3

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesChris Davis blasted a two-out, two-strike, bottom of the ninth pitch into the seats in right-center, lifting the Baltimore Orioles to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Oakland A’s Saturday night in Camden Yards.

The homer was the second walk-off long ball for the O’s in as many nights. Manny Machado hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 13th to push the Orioles to an 8-6 win on Friday night.

Davis hit two homers Saturday night, his 33rd and 34th of the season. His first dinger, in the fourth, a two-run shot, got the O’s on the board after Oakland had jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, powered by a pair of solo homers in the third, by Sam Fuld and Josh Reddick.

Billy Burns led the game off in the top of the first with a triple over the head of center fielder Adam Jones, then came home to score on an RBI groundout by Mark Canha.

It was 3-2 after the first Davis homer, and a sixth-inning homer by Gerardo Parra, his 11th of the season, tied the game at 3-3.

Miguel Gonzalez got a no-decision for the Orioles in a solid start, giving up three runs on six hits in seven innings of work, striking out five and walking three.

Zach Britton (3-0, 1.88 ERA) got the win in an inning of scoreless relief, striking out two.

Pat Venditte (0-1, 1.42 ERA) took the loss for Oakland.

Baltimore (59-56) is five games out of first place in the American League East, and a half-game out of the second wild-card spot in the AL.
