Bryce Harper homered twice, and Doug Fister gave up two runs in six solid innings, pushing the Washington Nationals past the Miami Marlins, 7-2, on Wednesday.
Harper’s first homer, a three-run shot in the fifth, broke a 2-2 tie. He added a solo homer in the eighth, his 29th of the season, and was 3-for-4 on the night.
Fister (4-6, 4.39 ERA) gave up two runs on four hits in six innings, striking out four and walking one.
Tom Koehler (8-7, 3.38 ERA) gave up five runs on six hits in six innings, striking out four and walking one.
Washington (53-46) has a two-game lead over the New York Mets in the National League East.
