Waynesboro Public Schools announces administrative appointments

waynesboro2editsThe Waynesboro School Board announces the selection of three individuals to be appointed to open administrative positions in the school division for the 2015-2016 school year.

Dr. Elizabeth Diane Behrens will be the principal serving the Waynesboro Schools Preschool Program at the Wayne Hills Center. Dr. Behrens has a bachelor of science in mathematics from James Madison University, a master of education in administration and supervision and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies, both from the University of Virginia.

She has spent the majority of her career working in Albemarle County Schools as a teacher and principal at both the elementary and middle school levels.  Dr. Behrens has also served Albemarle County Schools at the district level as a director in the areas of federal programs and student support services.

From 2008 until the present, she has worked in Charlottesville City Schools as an instructional coordinator involved with the management of Title I resources, preschool programs, and other areas administering instructional programming and grant funding.

Dr. Behrens and her husband now reside in Waynesboro.

Tiffany Temple, a native of Newport News, will be an assistant principal at Kate Collins Middle School.  Temple is a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a bachelor of music degree.  She received her masters of education in administration and supervision from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Temple began her teaching career in 2002 as an elementary music teacher in Newport News.  From 2003 until the present, she has taught choral music and served as the York County High School choral director.  During her tenure in York County Schools, she also taught choral music  for three years at the middle school level.

Donald Gregory Harris will be the assistant principal at William Perry Elementary School, joining newly appointed Principal Tammy Hipes, as the school’s leadership team.

Harris has been employed with Rockingham County Schools since 2005 as a mathematics teacher at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater.  He previously taught mathematics for one year at Stanley Elementary School, Stanley. Harris has a bachelor of science in mathematics from Virginia Tech.  He received his masters of education in mathematics and a certificate in educational leadership from James Madison University.  He is currently completing doctoral studies in strategic leadership through James Madison.

Harris has also been an adjunct mathematics Instructor at Blue Ridge Community College from 2010 until the present.  In addition to his role as a classroom teacher, he has worked collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and division level personnel in Rockingham County and other local school divisions, in the review of student achievement data, curriculum, and staff development for teachers.

Harris resides with his wife, and two children in Verona.
