Expect delays on Emmet Street in Charlottesville overnight Tuesday while overhead sign is removed

Chris Graham

road-work-headerThe removal of an overhead sign structure from Route 29 (Emmet Street) between Hydraulic Road and the Route 29/250 interchange will require traffic delays overnight Tuesday.

Between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday there will be complete closures of the southbound lanes for up to 20 minutes at a time while the sign structure is removed. The two outside southbound lanes and the ramp to Route 250 west will be closed completely. The operation will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

During the directional closures traffic will be controlled by police officers and patrol cruisers. Motorists heading to the Route 250 Bypass west should follow Route 29 south to Barracks Road and turn right. Take Barracks Road west to the Route 250 Bypass interchange.

Motorists should be alert for directional signs and traffic controls as they approach the work zone, slow down and be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Information about Culpeper District activities that will affect traffic is also available on Twitter at @VaDOTCULP and on VDOT’s website at: www.virginiadot.org/travel/travel_alerts/culpeper/default.asp.
