The Staunton Police Department is cancelling the missing persons report for Kay Meyerhoeffer Thompson, who had been sought since going missing on Wednesday.
Her vehicle was found today at 12:14 p.m. on the Blue Ridge Parkway, milepost 43.9, in Rockbridge County. It appears to have been involved in a single-vehicle traffic crash.
The sole occupant was found deceased at the scene. Positive identification is pending an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke.
The investigation is being handled by the U.S. Park Services.
