Governor McAuliffe announces process for replacement of Virginia Supreme Court justice

state-capitol2As part of his process for the review of candidates for this position, the Governor is accepting expressions of interests from persons who are qualified to serve on the Supreme Court of Virginia. The qualifications for this position include, at a minimum:

  • residency in the Commonwealth and
  • admission to the bar of the Commonwealth for at least five years prior to the date of appointment.

Additional information about required qualifications can be found in Article VI of the Virginia Constitution.

Governor McAuliffe also will consider information and recommendations on qualified individuals to fill this vacancy from the statewide bar associations of the Commonwealth. Those expressing interest in the position should provide the following information:

  1. A current résumé.
  2. Responses to the Judicial Questionnaire. Word doc | pdf doc
