After SchoolLifelong learning continues at Albemarle High School long after the last school bus leaves the parking lot. Ceramics, Watercolors, Microsoft Office applications, Self Defense, CPR, Crochet, Spanish, Defensive Driving and Motorcycle Safety are a sampling of the many courses offered for adults, with spaces still available this spring.

Classes meet for one or more evening or weekend sessions, with many priced below $20. Instructors include premier local chefs, award-winning artists, local business owners, and other community experts.

Now in its 29th year of publication, the Open Doors Catalog is available for no charge at the Albemarle County Office Building, Main Post Office, Northside and Downtown libraries. Class descriptions may also be viewed at www.opendoors1.org.

Registrations are accepted by mail, online at www.opendoors1.org, or by telephone (434)975-9450, and is not limited to county residents.

“Spring is a great time to learn something new and make those longer evenings count,” said Karen Waters-Wicks, Albemarle County Public Schools Community Education Coordinator. “We are committed to lifelong learning, and to serving those in our community who may not have school-aged children.”
