The Waynesboro Police is requesting assistance in its investigation in an overnight burglary of a Waynesboro business. At 7:30 a.m. today, officers responded to Dollar Tree, 2715 West Main Street for a report of a break in.
Sometime after 9:30 p.m. on August 3, 2014, assailants entered the store by prying open a rear door to the adjacent business space which is vacant and then accessing Dollar Tree. A safe was taken from the business’ office. Then the back loading dock entrance was forced open and the safe removed. Store staff estimate that there was approximately $800 in the safe at the time.
Officers and detectives collected physical evidence left at the scene which will be sent off to the Department of Forensic Science.
