I am proud to support Sylvia Mathews Burwell’s confirmation to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. She has a strong background not only in the public sector – most recently as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget – but she also has a superb track record in the private sector, which will serve her well in her new post.
As implementation of the Affordable Care Act continues, we have to be about reforms and improvements. Sylvia is a person who walks in to work every day wanting things to be better than they were yesterday, and she has the experience to do this job very well.
Two hundred and fifty years after the Declaration of Independence, we live under a government that increasingly behaves as though rights belong to the government to distribute, restrict and revoke as it sees fit.
I’ve always been the kind, with relation to fireworks, leave it to the professionals, but I do value being able to type, and having my hands and fingers fully intact is a boost to me in my daily job.
