derby07Blue Ridge Soap Box Derby Classic registrations has begun for the annual Soap Box Derby race to be run this year on Saturday, May 10th on Eleventh Street, between Pine and Wayne Avenues in Downtown Waynesboro.

Registrations will be taken until the mandatory clinic on April 2nd. Registrationfees are $60.00 for all racers and will be discounted to $50.00 if registered before.

Girls and boys from 7 to 18 years of age are invited to register for the derby either in Stock, Super Stock or Masters divisions by the deadline of April 2nd.

The Blue Ridge Soap Box franchise area includes Albemarle, Augusta, Bath, Highland, Louisa, Nelson and Rockbridge counties and the cities therein.

Last year we had a very successful race with more than 40 boys and girls racing for the championship in three divisions. These champions went on to represent Waynesboro in the All American Soap Box Derby in Akron in late July.

Letters are being sent out to all last year’s drivers. If you do not receive yours in a few weeks, please contact the Derby Director.

Visit the derby online at www.blueridgesoapboxderby.com for schedule of events and registration forms.
