A friend and fellow UVa. alum e-mailed me during the week to suggest the timing of any news regarding Al Groh. It wouldn’t happen, he said, during the week, to avoid any possible negative pub on Grounds, and with students about to go into exam period, a Friday or weekend news release would make more sense. Then Friday was ruled out because a Friday release gives the columnists plenty of time to write scathing pieces in the Sunday papers. Saturday gets the ixne for the same reason. But Sunday, Bloody Sunday, would be perfect, because of the attention in the sports media on the NFL and the BCS pairings and related topics. And everybody knews that nobody is watching the local news on Sunday evening nor reading the papers on Monday morning. Well, so it’s Sunday, so we’re … waiting.
