The Shenandoah Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is seeking nominations for its 2013 National Philanthropy Day awards. Five award categories will recognize individuals, groups and corporations who have made a difference to nonprofit organizations in Augusta and Rockingham Counties and the surrounding area through their gift of time, talent and resources.
The Youth in Philanthropy award honors individuals or groups of young people who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the community through leadership, philanthropy and service. Other awards include the Individual Philanthropist, Corporate Philanthropist, Spirit of Philanthropy, and Sandra S. Neff Fundraising Executive.
The awards will be presented at National Philanthropy Day Annual Luncheon which will be held in the Festival Conference and Student Center on the campus of James Madison University on November 25, 2013. The Shenandoah Chapter of AFP has hosted this event in the Valley annually since 1990.

AFP International is the professional association of individuals responsible for promoting consistent and high standards of professional practice in the fundraising process. Founded in 1960, AFP requires its 26,000 members to comply with a Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice and encourages members to follow the Donor Bill of Rights. The Shenandoah Chapter meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month at Robert E. Plecker Workforce Center Blue Ridge Community College for an educational program and lunch.
