Lumos appoints Joti Balani as VP of marketing

lumos_homeLumos Networks Corp. (NASDAQ:LMOS), a leading provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure & IP Services in key Mid-Atlantic markets, this week announced the appointment of Joti Balani as vice president of marketing.

This appointment comes on the heels of the ongoing transformation Lumos Networks embarked upon since its inception in November 2011 when it spun off from nTelos. In her new position, Balani will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Joseph E. McCourt Jr.

As vice president of marketing, Balani will lead Lumos Networks’ marketing communications, public relations, and strategic marketing activities and also facilitate customer relationship management activities across the company further underpinning Lumos Networks’ customer-centric focus. She will play a key role in continuing to communicate the company’s leadership in high bandwidth, IP-centric connectivity solutions to enterprise and carrier customers.

“Joti’s years of significant experience in the strategic data networking arena will help further launch Lumos Networks as a leader in the exploding Enterprise & Carrier bandwidth infrastructure marketplace. In addition, it will enhance Lumos Networks’ position in industry discussions on key topics including cloud computing, data center connectivity & unified communications. I see marketing as the final frontier of Lumos Networks’ transformation to further unlock the underlying value of our incredible assets,” McCourt said.

Prior to joining Lumos Networks, Balani held senior leadership positions most recently at Zayo Group, framing  Cloud Services Strategy across their  global footprint and at AboveNet since 2006, leading product development across metro, long haul and IP networks helping establish it as a global market leader in high bandwidth connectivity & low latency solutions. Zayo Group acquired AboveNet in July 2012 as part of a $2.3bn transaction.

Balani previously also held various senior product and technology positions at AT&T Business Services, Lucent Technologies and Texas Instruments since 1995.
