The Waynesboro Players are staging a local production of the award-winning musical 1776 over two weekends in September – Sept. 11-13 and Sept. 18-20.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and 3 p.m. for the Sunday matinees.
All performances will be at the Blue Ridge Community College Black Box Theater in Weyers Cave.

About 1776
Featuring a score by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, 1776 is a re-imagining of American history. The musical puts a human face on this formative event of history as we see the men behind the national icons; proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, and often petty, but determined to do the right thing and form a new nation.
The score features such famous tunes as the romantic “He Plays the Violin,” the comedic “The Lees of Old Virginia,” and that plaintive memorial to young patriots, “Momma, Look Sharp.”
