Lumos Networks selected for membership in Avaya DevConnect Program

Lumos Networks (NASDAQ: LMOS), a leading provider of fiber-based products across the Mid-Atlantic region, announced on Wednesday that it has been selected by Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communication solutions, for membership as a Technology Partner in the Avaya DevConnect program. It also announced that its SIP Trunking solution is now compliant with Avaya IP Office.

Lumos Networks provides a technically advanced SIP Trunking solution that enables customers to use their connectivity efficiently by sharing the same circuit for voice, Internet and Wide Area Networking. Lumos Networks SIP Trunking also provides business continuity features that can automatically re-route calls in the case of dangerous weather or other threatening emergencies. The application is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya IP Office 8.1.  It is supported for use with both IP Office 500 and IP Office Server Edition.

The Avaya DevConnect program promotes the development, compliance-testing and co-marketing of innovative third-party solutions that are compatible with standards-based Avaya solutions. Member organizations have expertise in a broad range of capabilities – spanning collaboration, management, analytics, reporting and communications-enabled business process applications – helping joint customers extend the value of their collaboration and contact center investments and accelerate the speed at which their organization delivers true value to the bottom line.

“Membership in Avaya’s developer community will help us position our leading edge products to serve customers more efficiently and effectively,” said Joe McCourt, Executive Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer.  “We are equally pleased to have completed and passed compliance testing.  Our ability to deliver compliance-tested solutions to the market will reduce network complexity, improved security and reliability, and speed installation for our customers.”

As a Technology Partner, Lumos Networks is eligible to submit products for compliance testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab. There, a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compatible. Doing so enables businesses to confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure—speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“Technology Partners like Lumos Networks are helping Avaya enhance the customer experience by enabling customers to integrate their voice and data onto a single connection,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, Developer Relations, Avaya.  “Successful completion of compliance testing enables customers to confidently deploy the Lumos SIP Trunking service, which will result in improved operating efficiency and reduced costs.”
