The Baltimore Orioles got the final strike in their 8-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday from ABS.

“I thought, Why not use it? Better to use it and see what happens,” O’s catcher Sam Basallo told reporters, via an interpreter, after getting the 1-2 pitch to Evan Carter that had been called a ball overturned for the final out of the game.

The review by the ABS challenge system came back with confirmation that the 95.2 mph fastball from Albert Suárez clipped the top of the strike zone on the outside corner.

Game notes

Trevor Rogers (2-0, 1.38 ERA) got the win for the Orioles (3-3), who took two of three from the Rangers to finish up their first homestand of the 2026 season.

Rogers gave up two runs on six hits in six innings of work, striking out three and walking one.

Suárez got the save the old-fashioned way, going three innings, giving up a run on two hits, with a K and a walk.

Basallo and Dylan Beavers each hit solo homers for Baltimore, which has an off-day on Thursday before opening its 2026 road schedule at Pittsburgh on Friday.
