A former NBC29 meteorologist pled guilty Wednesday to two charges stemming from a 2022 incident, but the most serious sex-crime felony charges against him were dropped.
Joshua Wade Fitzpatrick, who now resides with his parents in his hometown of Gallipolis, Ohio, pled guilty to two Class I misdemeanors: disseminating images of another and filming a nude person without their consent.
He was sentenced to one year on each count with 11 months suspended in Albemarle General District Court, according to online records. He was given credit for time already served following his arrest.
The felony extortion charges and a second misdemeanor charge were dropped by the Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney.
As a condition of Fitzpatrick’s release, he must return to Ohio, destroy his phone and have no contact with the victim in the future, according to reporting from Cville Right Now.

The investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department began on Feb. 28 last year after the victim said Fitzpatrick threatened to release a video that was taken unknowingly and without their consent.
He was arrested in April. His employment with NBC29 ended in March 2025 as the investigation into the alleged sex crimes was under way.

Fitzpatrick is not the first beloved media personality to shock the community with alleged sex crimes.
Former WKDW radio host Kris Neil Losh was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2020 related to child pornography and aggravated sexual battery charges in connection with the abuse of two boys under the age of 13.
