Somebody thought it would be a good idea to get Donald Trump on the phone with kids calling the NORAD hotline calling to check on Santa’s whereabouts.
You may remember that, back in 2018, Trump asked one 7-year-old calling NORAD on Christmas Eve if he still believed in Santa, “because at 7, it’s marginal, right?”
None of those flubs today, but the Trumper did get in some politicking with this year’s kids.
One girl, from Kansas, answered, when Trump asked what she wanted for Christmas this year, “not coal.”
Sounds like this kid has been threatened with coal in the stocking, which I had figured went out of style around the time I came of age a hundred years ago.
Anyway, DJT, who believes there is such a thing as “clean coal,” wasn’t having any of the “not coal” nonsense.
“Not coal? No, you don’t want, well, coal is, you mean clean, beautiful coal?” Trump said. “I had to do that, I’m sorry. No, coal is clean and beautiful, please remember that, at all costs. But you don’t want clean, beautiful coal, right?”
No, she didn’t want coal, not even “clean, beautiful coal.”
Maybe a wind turbine?
Lots of wind out there in The Great Plains.
Two kids got Trump bragging about his electoral wins, one, not surprisingly, overstating his prowess.
That one involved the 5-year-old from State College, Pa., which Trump claimed he won “actually, three times” – fact check: Trump won Pennsylvania in 2016 and 2024; he lost the state in 2020.
Of 2024, Trump said: “We won it in a landslide, so I love Pennsylvania.”
Fact check: Trump got 50.4 percent in PA in 2024, defeating Kamala Harris by 1.7 points.
Not a landslide.
The not-so-humble brag to the kiddos from Oklahoma was at least on target.
“Santa loves you. Santa loves Oklahoma like I do. You know, Oklahoma was very good to me in the election. So, I love Oklahoma. Don’t ever leave Oklahoma, OK?” Trump told the kids.
As long as mom and dad can afford private school, sure.
Oklahoma ranks 48th or worse in the key K-12 education metrics.
