The IX Arts Foundation in Charlottesville announced the launch of a full 360° virtual Matterport tour of The Looking Glass, Virginia’s first immersive, interactive art museum.
The concept: visitors can explore the whimsical, floor-to-ceiling art environment from anywhere in the world.
The new virtual tour can be accessed from any computer, tablet, smartphone or VR device. Every installation, sculpture, mural and environment within the museum has been scanned in high-resolution 360°, enabling guests to navigate freely through the exhibition while discovering artist information, stories, and inspiration along the way.
To access the tour, visitors are invited to support the IX Arts Foundation with a donation of $4. Contributions directly fund art supplies, exhibitions, free community events, arts education and other mission-driven programming that make creativity accessible to all.
“The Looking Glass was born from a belief that art should be playful, immersive, and welcoming to everyone,” said Ewa Harr, executive director of the IX Arts Foundation. “By bringing the experience into a virtual format, we hope to share that sense of wonder even more broadly, while supporting the artists and public programs that keep this magic alive.”
The creation of the virtual tour was made possible through the support and technical expertise of SoundAround, whose owner, Jay Berget, captured the full digital walk-through of the museum.
“We are deeply grateful to SoundAround for helping us preserve this exhibition in digital form,” said Jeff Dobrow, creative director at the IX Arts Foundation. “Jay’s talent and dedication allowed us to expand access to The Looking Glass in a very meaningful new way.”

Visitors can unlock access immediately upon donation, helping continue the organization’s work in arts education, local artist support, and free public programming.
