Chris Graham

A West Augusta man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a car on Route 11 in Greenville on Friday.

Derek G. Losh, 25, of West Augusta, died at the scene after being thrown from his bike in the collision.

The two-vehicle crash occurred in the 5100 block of Route 11. A 1984 Buick sedan was traveling south on Route 11 when it slowed to make a right turn onto Sunnyside Drive. Losh, on a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle, was traveling at an excessive rate of speed as it came upon the slowing sedan, according to a report from the Virginia State Police.

The motorcycle tried to pass the sedan in the right shoulder just as the sedan started making its right turn. The motorcycle struck the sedan in the passenger side.

The driver of the Buick was not injured.
