Developing | Virginia State Police investigating shooting on Interstate 81

Virginia State Police is investigating a shooting on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County that sent a victim to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The shooting was reported at 10:19 a.m. Friday, according to a report from VSP.

The incident took place on the northbound side of the interstate between Exit 146 and Exit 150.

State Police shut down I-81 in the area for more than an hour to conduct an evidence sweep.

The northbound lanes were reopened at 1:07 p.m.

No suspect has been identified at this time.

Virginia State Police is asking that anyone with information on this incident to call #77 or 1-800-542-5959.
