The UVA Soccer team played a man down for the final 64 minutes after a first-half ejection, and never got on track in an ugly 4-1 loss at George Mason on Thursday night in Fairfax.

Mason (1-1-0) was already up 1-0 when Virginia’s Zach Ehrenpreis was shown a red card for denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity. James Eluida converted on the resulting free kick to make the score 2-0.

The Cavaliers would play the remainder of the match with 10 men.

UVA (2-1-0) got back within a goal in the 57th minute. After a Cavalier corner kick was headed out of the box, Sami Oulouheu sent a cross back to the far post, where Nick Simmonds headed it in to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Martim Serano, who had scored the game’s first goal, put his second into the net in the 60th minute, and Jacobo Sanfeliu tapped a rebound into the back of the net in the 76th minute to add insurance.
