The Augusta County local government has published the recommended budget from the county administrator, Tim Fitzgerald, for Fiscal Year 2026.

The FY26 Recommended Budget and the Five-Year Plan will serve as the foundation for discussions during the Augusta County Board of Supervisors budget work session, scheduled for Monday, March 31, at 8:30 a.m.
Remember how it used to be easy to watch BOS and other county meetings on Facebook?
Yeah, they took that away; apparently it was too easy.
I’m guessing county leaders also didn’t like how people can post comments on live and archived meetings on Facebook.
Anyway, you can watch Monday’s work session by accessing a video meeting link available on the agenda for the meeting on the county’s meetings and agenda page.
Going forward from Monday, following the work session, any amendments to the recommended budget will be incorporated into an advertised budget, and that revised budget will be published for public review ahead of the Budget and Tax Rate Public Hearings, set for Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 7 p.m., during the regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
Details on how to participate in the public hearing or submit comments online will be announced soon.
The county PR person included a line in the press release on this with a line about how “residents are encouraged to stay informed and engaged throughout the budget approval process to ensure their voices are heard in shaping the county’s financial priorities.”
They’re not going to actually listen to you, but anyway, the sentiment is cute and adorable.
