A 17-year-old travelling at a high rate of speed was taken into custody after a police pursuit in Northern Virginia just after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The vehicle had allegedly eluded state troopers on multiple occasions, but police managed to stop them after deploying a tire deflation device.

Virginia State Police report that the D.C. teen has been charged with eluding and reckless driving as well as seatbelt and equipment violations. The teen’s name has not been released.

Police troopers spotted a black Dodge Charger travelling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 395 near exit 10 in Arlington County

A trooper began to pursue the vehicle and identified it as a vehicle that had previously eluded state troopers on multiple occasions.

The suspect vehicle exited Interstate 395 southbound onto Route 110 northbound, where State Police successfully deployed the tire deflation devices. The vehicle did not stop, and the teen driver exited Route 110 near Arlington National Cemetery, and then got back on Route 110 heading southbound.

The suspect vehicle, which eventually ended up with one working tire, continued onto Route 1 southbound, and then exited onto 15th Street in Arlington, where it skidded and crashed into the curb.

State troopers contained the vehicle at the curb to prevent anybody from leaving the vehicle. Two juvenile passengers were released to their parents.
