Pulaski County: 30-year-old man dead after head on crash Monday night

A Virginia man is dead following a two-vehicle accident on Route 114 in Pulaski County on Monday.

Jose M. Alfaro, 30, of Fairlawn, died at an area hospital due to injuries sustained in the 10:45 p.m. crash.

According to Virginia State Police, Alfaro’s Hyundai Elantra was driving northbound, a quarter mile north of Route 11, when it crossed the center line and struck a Volvo head on.

The driver of the Volvo, Christian E. Downs, 21, of Christiansburg suffered minor injuries.

Alfaro was not wearing a seatbelt; Downs was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
