Campbell County: Lynchburg man dead after vehicle rear-ends turning truck, lands in ditch

A Lynchburg man is dead after a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday in Campbell County.

Jay Martin, 57, died at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the fatal crash that occurred Feb. 25 at 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of Wards Road and McDaniel Drive.

A Ram truck with a trailer was slowing on Wards Road to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a Mazda driven by Martin, according to VSP. Martin’s vehicle then ran off the right side of the road and into a ditch.

The driver of the Ram was not injured and their name was not released.
