A snowstorm that impacted Virginia roads appears to be letting up, resulting in less accidents on roadways, according to State Police.
Since midnight on Wednesday morning, there have been a total of 557 crashes throughout the Commonwealth, with 48 accidents involving injuries.
There have been no fatal crashes in this storm.
- In the Appomattox division (covering central/western Virginia, including Staunton, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and South Boston), there have been 110 crashes, 14 with reported injuries.
- In Division 1 (covering the cities of Richmond, Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, and the counties of Amelia, Caroline, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Essex, Goochland, Henrico, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Louisa, New Kent, Northumberland, Nottoway, Prince George, Powhatan, Richmond, and Westmoreland), there have been 69 crashes, six with reported injuries.
- In the Wytheville division (covering southwestern Virginia), there have been 56 crashes, seven with reported injuries.
- In the Fairfax division (covering northern Virginia), there have been 36 crashes, seven with reported injuries.
State Police continue to ask Virginians to avoid travel, if possible, to allow the Department of Transportation and other emergency crews room to work on the roads.
