A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland with dangerously low temperatures predicted.

An extended period of temperatures up to 30 degrees below normal is possible.

According to the advisory, the RealFeel or wind chills could be as low as 15 degrees below zero.

The dangerously cold wind chills are possible through Tuesday at 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory was issued for northwest and western Virginia, the eastern panhandle of West Virginia and portions of north central and western Maryland.

In Virginia, the advisory includes Augusta, Rockingham, Highland and Shenandoah counties.

Highs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be 24 degrees or lower.

If you have to go outside, it is recommended that you dress in layers and include a hat, face mask and gloves.

To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap or allow them to drip slowly.
