The National Park Service has issued a prospectus for proposals to provide lodging, food and beverage, retail sales and other services within Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The proposed Concession Contract will be for a term of ten (10) years.
“Getting the new concession contract in place will ensure that visitors will continue to receive quality services in the park,” said Superintendent Martha Bogle. “We are required by law to have an open competition to determine who will manage the concessions facilities.”
Lodging facilities at Skyland, Big Meadows, and Lewis Mountain provide thousands of visitors with unique overnight opportunities to enjoy historic cabins and rooms, as well as modern accommodations. Dining facilities in Shenandoah range from casual “grab and go” style options to more formal epicurean delights.
The Concession Contract between the NPS and the existing concessioner expires on December 31, 2012. Operations for the 2013 season will commence on schedule as outlined in the new contract.
The prospectus was released on January 31, 2012, for a 76 day period. Proposals are due no later than 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) April 16, 2012. Any proposals must be sent to National Park Service, Northeast Region, Attn: Chief of Concessions, 200 Chestnut St., 3rd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
