A Page County DUI suspect escaped from custody while at Page Memorial Hospital Sunday morning.

According to a media statement from the Page County Sheriff’s Office, Ashton Blaine Cook was arrested Saturday evening and charged with DUI, driving after forfeiture of license, and resisting arrest.

The PCSO did not disclose what led to Cook’s visit for treatment or specific details about his escape, but immediately took to social media to issue a warning and BOLO (“be on the lookout”) to local residents.

The warning noted physical descriptors of the subject and the fact that he escaped while wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. Residents were encouraged to call emergency services if they saw Cook or observed any suspicious activity.

A heavy police presence was observed in and around the hospital. A drone, K-9, and multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search.

Early Sunday afternoon, PSCO announced that Cook, 26, had been captured and was back in custody.

According to online court records, this is not Cook’s first brush with the law. Incidents dating back to 2017 show previous arrests for possession of marijuana, larceny, public intoxication and trespassing.

The PSCO did not immediately disclose what charges Cook might face following Sunday’s escape.
