The City of Waynesboro and Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta are working together to provide emergency home repairs including roof replacement, replacement gutters, major plumbing repair, electrical upgrades and rewiring and hot water heater replacement.

The city plans to submit a request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development asking it to release $50,000 in Community Development Block Grants to fund the repairs for qualified homeowners.

It is estimated that approximately five houses will be rehabilitated with this funding.

Projects will be selected from an area that covers the central portion of Waynesboro to the eastern side of the city.

Projects may be located within the following neighborhoods:

  • on the eastern and western sides of Delphine Avenue (U.S. 340)
  • the Port Republic neighborhood east of Florence Avenue
  • the Wayne Hills neighborhood west of Florence Avenue to Hopeman Parkway
  • Tree Streets neighborhood south of Main Street bounded by Lyndhurst Road on the east and Rosser Avenue on the west
  • the Club Court neighborhood located west of Delphine Avenue and bounded by the South River on the north and west
  • the Mondomaine neighborhood between U.S. 250 and Rosser Avenue (U.S. 340).

Any individual, group or agency may submit written comments to the Community Development Department by email at [email protected].  All comments received by Oct. 4 will be considered by the City of Waynesboro prior to authorizing submission of a request for release of funds.
