Money is a sign of strength in a political strength. Tom Perriello’s congressional bid continues to show fiscal strength.

The Fifth District Democratic Party nominee raised more than $300,000 in the second fundraising quarter of 2008 and has raised more than $900,000 all told, the campaign announced on Tuesday.

“I am so humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support from people from all over the Fifth District,” said Perriello, who is challenging incumbent Republican Virgil Goode in the Fifth, which includes Charlottesville, Albemarle County and Nelson County and stretches all the way down the Piedmont to the North Carolina border.

“Every day on the campaign, I hear about the need for better-paying jobs, for lower gas prices, and for solutions in Iraq. Their commitment to this campaign, with their time and their hard-earned money, shows that the people of this district are tired of ‘politics as usual’ and want a leader fighting for them in Washington,” Perriello said.
