The months of speculation are over. Sean Singletary is in the NBA.

The UVa. point guard was taken with the 42nd pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.

Virginia Tech forward Deron Washington, meanwhile, is on his way to Eastern Conference finalist Detroit, who took Washington with the 59th pick in the draft.

Singletary, the only player in ACC history to have 2,000 career points, 500 assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals, could be heading into a good situation in Sacramento. The buzz heading into the draft was that the Kings were going to try to find a new point guard in the draft.

The two point guards currently on the Kings roster, Beno Udrih and Anthony Johnson, are set to become free agents on July 1, and it is looking like both are on their way elsewhere.

Washington joins a deep Detroit roster that is in the process of retooling after falling in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games to eventual NBA champion Boston. The athletic Washington could be a good complement at small forward to starter Tayshaun Prince.
