Hiking with the little ones

Trekking with Toddlers is the theme of the seminar being presented by the Shenandoah National Park on Saturday in conjunction with National Trail Day.

The program is aimed at parents who want to go hiking with their children, but are worried about what they can do to keep them interested, entertained and safe.

Jeff Alt, the author of A Walk for Sunshine, and an avid hiker, will lead the seminar.

The program is free, but reservations are required. There is a $15-per-car entrance fee to the park, which is good for seven days.

To register, go to the Shenandoah National Park website at www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/resource_seminars.htm.
