TODAY’S HOT OR NOT: Manny, O, Manny

I’ve always been a fan of the quirky Manny Ramirez, dating back to his days in Cleveland, when I’m not sure he could actually speak English, since he seemed to communicate so rarely to really anybody.

The guy seemed to come out of whatever shell he was in upon his move to Boston, and always appeared to be having a good time, Manny being Manny.

I have to say that I’ve been awakened to a different reality involving Manny with his power play to get out of the last two years of that sweetheart $20 million annual contract that had him under the hairs of two club options for 2009 and 2010.

So now he has his wish, getting traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for getting out of those club options.

I wonder if Manny is going to get more than or even something equivalent to $20 million per on the open market next year, considering the havoc he wreaked on the Sox this year and basically every spring when he’d make similar demands to be traded because he didn’t feel loved or appreciated or he had a muscle-car show to go to or whatever.

I guess it’s just Manny being Manny, but I don’t know that I have to care anymore.

Marriage equality is the law of the land, sure, but, take nothing for granted

It’s already the settled law of the land, marriage equality, but Virginia still has embedded in its state constitution, thanks to the politics of 2006, a provision narrowly defining marriage as being between one man and one woman.
