It’s official – Rockbridge is in the Valley League.

The league announced today that the Rockbridge Rapids will join the lineup in 2009. The Rockbridge team will play its games in Lexington at Cap’n Dick Smith Field on the campus of Washington and Lee University.

The addition of the Rockbridge franchise gives the league 12 teams for the ’09 season.

The Rapids will play in the South Division of the Valley League, which includes teams in Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg.

The franchise will be operated by Rockbridge Baseball Club LLC. The team has already begun assembling a coaching staff and players for the 2009 season and continues to actively seek host families and others who wish to be involved with the organization.
