Robert Brown named VDOT Appomattox Residency administrator

vdot road workRobert Brown will assume the residency adminstrator role for the Appomattox Residency of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on April 10.

Brown will serve as primary VDOT  transportation official for Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Nelson counties. He will oversee road maintenance and operations, land development, budgeting and business operations.

“I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of the Appomattox Residency,” said Brown about his new role.

Brown, currently the assistant residency administrator for the Appomattox Residency, began his career with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in 1987 as a construction inspector and was the residency’s first land use permits and subdivision specialist senior in 1990. Subsequently, Brown broaden his construction, maintenance and administrative skills and experience in roles as residency contract administrator, project manager, district construction quality manager and maintenance operations manager.

He is a lifelong resident of Charlotte County where he raises cattle, is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a mentor in Department of Corrections institutions as the Commonwealth as a member of Hope Aglow Prison Ministries.
