Crozet Winter Brews Festival debuts on Dec. 8

AFP

Crozet Winter Brews FestivalThe Crozet Winter Brews Festival, a celebration of dark beers from Virginia brewers, will take place Dec. 8 at Claudius Crozet Park in historic Crozet.

Taking a cue from the cooler weather and shorter days, the Crozet Winter Brews Festival will feature Virginia breweries sampling their porters, stouts, and other darker seasonal brews. With both well-known and smaller breweries in attendance, the Festival will offer an exciting tasting experience for dark beer connoisseurs. There will be food trucks, live music, and other entertainment and festivities. A ballot will be provided for visitors to vote on the sampled beers in a friendly yet cutthrout competition resulting in the (soon-to-be) coveted Claudius Awards, bestowed for individual divisions and Best in Show.

“The Claudius Crozet Park Board has discussed holding a beer Festival for a while,” says Park Board President Kim Guenther, “But we wanted to find a way to make it stand a part from all the other beer fests in the area. Setting the date in December and focusing on dark beers seemed like a way to make this event truly unique.” All proceeds from the Festival will directly support Crozet Park, a non-profit Park owned and operated by the community of Crozet, and its mission of affordable recreation for all.

Participating breweries include:

Apocalypse Ale Works
Blue Mountain Brewery
Bold Rock Hard Cider
Brothers Craft Brewing
Devils Backbone Brewing Company
Intermission Beer Company
Old Bust Head Brewing Company
Pale Fire Brewing Co
Pro Re Nata Brewing Company
Random Row Brewing Co.
South Street Brewery
Starr Hill Brewery
Strangeways Brewing
Three Notch’d Brewing Co.

Specific beers available for sampling from each brewery are still being selected and will be posted to the Festival website — www.crozetbeerfest.com — along with Sponsorship and Volunteer opportunities. Festival tickets are for sale now online, with special perks included for the first 1,000 tickets sold!

The Crozet Winter Brews Festival is supported by Starr Hill Brewery, who will be hosting the post-Festival party with live music at their Tap Room in Crozet, after the Festival ends on December 8. $1 from each pint sold at the Tap Room will be donated to the Park. The Festival is also partnering with Hop On Tours, who will provide free shuttle access from Charlottesville directly to the Festival and back again – keeping Festival-goers safe and responsible!

Festival Sponsorship spaces are still available and include pre- and post-Festival marketing opportunities as well as a presence at the Festival and the myriad benefits of being associated with an exciting new event benefitting the community.

Festival information is on the official website at www.crozetbeerfest.comAdditional information can be found on the Festival Facebook page at:  https://www.facebook.com/crozetbeerfest/
