The Skyline Drug Task Force conducted a Dec. 15 traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Wickham Lane in Waynesboro that led to three arrests on drug charges.
During the course of the traffic stop, the Task Force officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of 15 grams of powdered cocaine (with an approximate street value of $1,500) and 10 grams of marijuana (with an approximate street value of $300) along with digital scales and other miscellaneous drug paraphernalia from inside the vehicle.
The Task Force followed up on the traffic stop with a search warrant of a residence on Wickham Lane and recovered additional marijuana from inside the residence.
As a result of the investigation, one of the individuals inside the vehicle, Tyrell Woodson, 23, of Charlottesville, was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine within 1,000 feet of a public school and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within 1,000 feet of a public school. These charges stem from the fact that the traffic stop was within 1,000 feet of Kate Collins Middle School and took place while classes were in session.
Two additional occupants in the vehicle, Brandon Rush, 28, of Charlottesville, and Derrick Jones, 22, of Waynesboro, were arrested for outstanding warrants.
All three suspects are being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail.
