PAC-man Cline leads money race in 24th

Chris Graham

An impressive $74,000-plus in contributions from PACs and business and industry donors has Republican incumbent Ben Cline safely ahead in the money race in the 24th House District.

More than 75 percent of Cline’s $95,959 in fundraising totals in the 2008-2009 campaign cycle have come from political committees and business and industry donors, according to an AFP analysis of Cline’s financial report to the State Board of Elections filed this week.

Cline raised #23,381 in July and August, $15,500 of which came from PACs, other political committees and industries located outside the 24th District.

Cline reported having $66,793 cash on hand as of Aug. 31.

Democratic opponent Jeff Price is well behind in large part due to the gap in PAC and business and industry money. Price raised $4,023 in the July 1-Aug. 31 reporting period and has raised $15,970 year to date for his campaign and had a balance of cash on hand of $7,021 on Aug. 31.

Price has raised $1,824 from PACs and party committees this year.
