Waynesboro Police seek public help in Kroger thefts

Chris Graham

The Waynesboro Police Department is requesting assistance from the community to help identify three suspects involved in thefts from both Waynesboro Kroger grocery stores on the same day earlier this month.

Two of the suspects are female; one is male.  They are all Caucasian and appear to be in their mid to late 30s.

On September 10, 2016 at approximately 8:00 PM, the two female suspects separately enter the Kroger located at 109 Lew DeWitt Boulevard.  Once in the store, they work independently by picking up various merchandise then head to separate check out aisles.  One chooses a full service aisle while the other choose as self-checkout.  They both present a Kroger gift card that they request to have a large amount of money loaded on.  Once the card is activated by a store employee, both women discreetly pocket the cards, replace them with blank cards and then explain they have to leave to get their method of payment.  They leave at approximately the same time and don’t return.

The male suspect then comes in with the two Kroger gift cards just stolen by the women and makes purchases.  They trio also did this at the Kroger located at 245 Arch Avenue within an hour of the first theft.

This same group is suspected of the same activity at Kroger stores in Staunton and Lexington recently.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Sergeant D Shaw with the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 241-5765 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
