washington nationalsA Clint Robinson RBI single broke a ninth-inning tie, sending the Washington Nationals to a 7-6 win at Atlanta Friday night.

The Braves (44-78) had rallied for three runs in the eighth, taking Tanner Roark (13-6, 2.87 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) off the board as the pitcher of record for the Nats.

Roark gave up three runs on four hits in six and a third innings, striking out three and walking three.

Rookie Koda Glover surrendered the game-tying two-run double to Freddie Freeman, but ended up being credited with his first MLB win, an odd quirk of the baseball scoring system.

Mark Melancon (35 saves, 1.42 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) nailed down the save, striking out two while allowing a base hit in the ninth.

Bryce Harper (.241/.384/.451, 21 HR, 64 RBI) drove in two runs for Washington, which got a 3-for-5 night out of rookie Trea Turner (.324/.343/.537, 3 HR, 17 RBI, 13 SB).

The Nationals (72-49) have a nine and a half game lead on Miami (63-59) in the NL East.
