“This honor is really about our providers – our doctors, our nurses, all our staff – who bring their enthusiasm and their passion for their work every single day,” said James Nataro, MD, physician-in-chief at UVA Children’s Hospital.

U.S. News seeks to identify hospitals that provide the highest-quality care for patients with serious or complex health needs, based on criteria that include:

  • Patient safety and patient outcomes, including steps to prevent infections
  • Advanced, specialized clinics and programs for children
  • Access to clinical trials and other clinical research designed to improve care
  • Commitment to quality improvement
  • A national survey of pediatric specialists

“We are pleased to see our UVA Children’s Hospital team receive national recognition for their dedication to providing excellent, quality care to children from across Virginia and the U.S.,” said Pamela M. Sutton-Wallace, chief executive officer of UVA Medical Center. “Our interdisciplinary, diverse team is available around the clock every day to care for the most vulnerable patients – our children – with complex health needs and life-threatening illnesses.”
