Augusta County Sheriff’s Office seeks KOA burglary suspect: Video

augusta countyDeputies with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the KOA Campground in Verona at 2:23 a.m. Thursday for a burglary alarm.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the business had been burglarized, and an ATM machine had been attacked and removed from the business.

The suspect was dressed in a jumpsuit, and wore gloves, a mask, and hardhat. The offender entered the building after smashing the front door with a sledge hammer.  The male then drug the ATM machine out the business, and loaded it onto a dolly. The suspect then loaded the ATM into a white passenger van and fled.

It was soon revealed that the van used in the burglary had been stolen from a nearby Fishersville business, used in the burglary in Verona, and then ultimately destroyed by an intentionally set fire, near where it had been originally stolen.

Anyone with information about this Grand Larceny is requested to contact Sgt. Caleb Spence at (540) 245-5333 EXT 385, or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017.
